Rise: An Initiative of Schmidt Futures and Rhodes Trust

Do you want to use your brilliance to solve the world’s most pressing challenges and be eligible for a college scholarship? We’re proud to partner with Rise, an Initiative of Schmidt Futures and the Rhodes Trust to make sure you know about this opportunity. Rise is a global initiative that finds brilliant people who need opportunity and supports them for live as they serve others. The program is available for students ages 15-17 and offers Global Winners access to benefits that last a lifetime including need-based scholarships, mentorship, career development opportunities, funding, and more. There are currently three Rise finalists from Syria and Iraq participating in SYE’s One Year Program.

Information for Prospective Rise Students

  • All applicants must be 15-17 years old as of July 1, 2023, meaning they are born on or between July 2, 2005 and July 1, 2008

  • Students must complete all application components by January 25, 2023 using this link. We encourage all applicants to begin their applications as early as possible.

  • To complete the project, students must complete five steps:

    1) Get started by registering here.
    2) Complete a project: students will be asked to record videos discussing the research, design, planning, and reflection of their projects.
    3) Tell us about you
    4) Complete peer reviews
    5) Participate in quizzes and games
